Role Summary/Purpose :
• As a member of the Magnetic Resonance (MR) modality, the Visualization Software Engineer has responsibilities extending to the development of MR systems software.

Essential Responsibilities Duties include (but are not limited to) :
• Work with a cross functional team consisting of technical leaders, MR domain experts and other software engineers to develop new platform, clinical applications and/or serviceability features for various GE MRI product lines. You will :
- Learn MR Visualization application development frameworks (Functool and READY View) and get accustomed to develop applications using these frameworks.
- Participate in high/low level design discussions as applicable;
- Develop and integrate software platform/application components into the system in accordance with the software development policies and procedures.
- Perform verifications at component level; assist in sub-system level verification as required.
- Document requirements, designs, verifications and other key development activities in accordance with established GE Healthcare and local quality processes.
• Maintain legacy software modules; address installed base product quality issues as required.
• Interact with global teams to promote consistency in development practices, tools and methods and maximize synergies with common software platforms.

Essential Responsibilities Quality Specific Goals :
• Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position
• Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines
• Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required
• Support compliance/closure of Regulatory and Quality requirements before completing Design Outputs/Program Deliverables
• Participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying and appropriately escalating process and product quality gaps, providing solutions when possible

Qualifications/Requirements :
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related computer field.
• Demonstrated proficiency in C/C++ and/or Java programming. (UNIX environment will be a plus).
• Good grasp of basic image processing, 3D graphics, visualization and data structures.
• Basic understanding of Object Oriented Design (OOD) and Programming (OOP) concepts and Unified Modeling Language (UML).

Desired Characteristics :
• Masters Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related computer field
• Experience software development in Diagnostic/Interventional medical device industry.
• Experience working in a global team environment.
• Strong verbal & written communication and influencing skills.
• Strong Analytical and Problem Solving skills.
• Willing to learn new technologies and flexible with roles and responsibilities.
• Familiarity with industry software development practices, tools and environments –
- Software development lifecycle from requirements to system integration.
- Configuration Management systems – Concepts and tools: ClearCase, CVS or equivalent
- Defect tracking tools and processes – Concepts and tools: DDTS or Clear-Quest or equivalent
- Debuggers – Concepts and tools: gdb, ddd, totalview or equivalent.
- Software Builds – Concepts and tools: Imake/make or equivalent.
